With nearly 100 years of experience, Marlo has solved commercial and industrial HVAC challenges for a virtually unlimited number of individual applications – with both our heating and cooling coils, as well as our air handling units (AHUs).
Because every coil and AHU we manufacture is customized specifically for its intended application – and because we routinely use a range of different materials – we can design and build our products to meet almost any need. The many types of applications that utilize Marlo coils and air handling units are described below.
Standard comfort heating and cooling
From all types of office buildings, to a range of schools and universities – and any other facility occupied by people – we help keep those people comfortable with customized AHUs and replacement heating and cooling coils. No matter the size of the building, the outside temperature and humidity ranges, or any unique HVAC challenges, we deliver solutions that offer year-round comfort and high air quality.
Challenging industrial processes
While keeping building occupants comfortable can have its difficulties, industrial process heating and cooling comes with an entirely different and more complicated set of challenges. Fortunately, Marlo has seen and solved all types of problems in the most demanding environments, including automotive, food processing, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, chemical manufacturing and many others.
These industries often present challenges such as highly corrosive environments, extreme temperatures, the need for precise temperature and/or humidity control, airstream isolation, and many more. Common solutions to these obstacles include coils with airtight housings to eliminate cross contamination of airstreams, coils built with special metals such as stainless steel to withstand corrosive environments and high temperatures, and coils with special fluids for better temperature and humidity control.
Ultra-clean and harsh environments
Clean environments, including food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical production, medical facilities and others, often have washdown requirements that use caustic cleaning fluids. So, Marlo regularly uses special materials and/or protective coatings to meet these demands. Antimicrobial and non-corrosive metals like copper and stainless steel are often used, for everything from tubes, to fins, to headers, to casings.
Our vast experience in maritime applications – including our longstanding work for the U.S. Navy – has also contributed to our expertise in corrosion-resistant materials and coatings. Saltwater environments are some of the most corrosive, and we regularly produce heating and cooling coils that offer long life and optimal performance at sea.
Industries with stringent tolerance requirements
At Marlo, we are often sought out for coils that can meet extremely stringent requirements and tolerances in demanding manufacturing industries such as aerospace, automotive, semiconductor and pharmaceutical. These applications typically require extremely precise control of both temperature and humidity, which we accomplish through expert engineering and unique heat transfer fluids.
Marlo coils are backed by AHRI certification, a third party which independently verifies that our coils meet the performance specified in our coil selection software, assuring that your coils will perform as promised.
Critical and institutional facilities
Certain building types require a level of quality that is above and beyond that of a more standard structure. For instance, institutional buildings such as schools, universities and hospitals are designed to last much longer than traditional commercial facilities. Therefore, their HVAC systems must also provide longer life – which is what Marlo delivers on a regular basis with heating and cooling coils, and air handling units.
Similar quality requirements are also demanded in government buildings and critical communications facilities, which we are also proud to supply. Our coils and AHUs can be found in FCC buildings, airport towers, data centers and major telecommunications firms, just to name a few. Unique engineering, high-quality and heavy-gauge materials, and master workmanship go into meeting the needs of these important facilities.
Power plants
One of the very unique applications we serve (and excel in) is the power industry, providing turbine inlet heating and cooling coils used in gas-fired power plants. These massive coils – often more than 30 feet long and 8 feet tall –provide many benefits for the power plant, including increased efficiency.
Turbine heating coils heat the air entering the turbine, eliminating ice formation which can damage the turbines, and improving efficiency when the turbine isn’t operating at full capacity. Turbine cooling coils lower the temperature of the incoming air, which increases air density and mass flow rate, thereby increasing power output and restoring the turbine to peak capacity, regardless of the outside air temperature.
Chances are, we can meet the needs of your facility!
The bottom line is, if we can design and manufacture heating and cooling coils, and air handling units, that perform in all of the various and often challenging environments discussed above, we’re confident that we can meet your individual needs, too. Whether you have basic requirements or challenges yet to be solved, you can count on Marlo to deliver customized solutions that get the job done.
