When your commercial or industrial air handling unit (AHU) needs to be replaced, Marlo has the perfect solution. Our MarloAIR AHU is an ideal replacement air handling unit, as we’ll explain below.
Replacing an existing AHU can be a daunting experience, especially when space constraints are an issue. Complex installations, wall removals, lengthy downtime, and unexpected costs are all real possibilities. But at Marlo, we believe that upgrading your AHU doesn’t have to be a headache. In fact, it should be an opportunity to significantly improve your building’s comfort, efficiency, and air quality.
When we set out to develop our MarloAIR, we specifically had replacement challenges in mind. Using our decades of experience designing and manufacturing high-quality HVAC coils and AHUs, we came up with what we feel is the ideal choice for replacing your aging air handler. Here are five great reasons why.
1. Modular Design
One of the biggest challenges in replacing an AHU is often the physical act of getting the new unit into the mechanical room. It’s common for existing units to have been installed during the building’s initial construction, before some interior walls were even built. Fortunately, the MarloAIR’s modular design solves this problem.
Our air handling units are constructed as a series of modules that can be easily transported through standard doorways and elevators. These modules are then quickly and securely assembled on-site. This eliminates the need for costly and disruptive structural modifications, such as removing walls and/or expanding access points. The modular MarloAIR not only simplifies the logistics of replacement, but also significantly reduces installation time, minimizing downtime and disruptions to a building’s occupants and/or operations.
2. Customization That Meets Your Needs
No two buildings are exactly alike, and neither are their HVAC requirements. Whether you want to match your existing AHU’s specifications or upgrade its performance, the MarloAIR can be customized to meet your specific needs. Your Marlo representative can use our AHU selection software to choose the modules that will meet your performance requirements.
We offer a wide range of options for heating and/or cooling coils (including our Stratomizer dampered face and bypass coil), fan and motor configurations, airflow capacity, filtration modules, and much more. The end result is that you get a customized solution at a much lower cost and much shorter lead time that with a traditional custom AHU.
3. Quality Construction That’s Built to Last
At Marlo, quality is at the heart of everything we do, and the MarloAIR is no exception! A few of our features that assure long-term durability, reliability and performance include:
- A heavy-duty frame constructed of high-grade aluminum, with an integral thermal break to minimize heat transfer.
- An advanced wall system featuring galvanized steel panels with a 2” polyurethane foam core for superior insulation value.
- Access doors with double wall construction and a minimum of two tapered pawl latches to uniformly compress the closed-cell neoprene gasket into the door jamb for an airtight seal.
- An engineered floor system featuring polyurethane foam insulation between 24-gauge steel sheets, with a durable coating for added protection, combined with a heavy-gauge aluminum diamond plate floor.
These high-quality components, along with our meticulous manufacturing processes, assure that every MarloAIR air handling unit performs as expected and provides many years of reliable service. Like every Marlo product, our AHUs are made in America and are backed by our 3-year warranty.
4. Powered by Marlo Coils and Optional Stratomizer
The heart of any air handling unit is its coils, and at Marlo Coil, that’s where we truly excel (and have for the past 100 years). Our coils are known for their exceptional heat transfer efficiency and durability, which put the MarloAIR a step ahead of other AHUs. Plus, we are a custom coil manufacturer, so the coils in each MarloAIR AHU are designed and built with a specific application in mind. These coils are engineered to optimize the unit’s cooling, heating, and dehumidification capabilities, leading to improved energy efficiency and lower operating costs.
In addition, the MarloAIR offers the optional integration of our innovative Stratomizer dampered face and bypass coil – also referred to as an integral face and bypass (IFB) coil. Ideal for colder climates, the Stratomizer offers a unique air blending technology that optimizes the temperature of incoming outside air, which enhances indoor air quality, further improves energy efficiency, and minimizes the possibility of coil freezing. By pre-heating outside air and precisely controlling the air mixture, the Stratomizer can lead to significant energy savings and a more comfortable indoor environment.
5. Short Lead Times for Fast Replacement and Minimal Downtime
When an air handling unit goes down, a long wait for a custom replacement is often not an option. Fortunately, our pre-engineered, modular design dramatically shortens lead times. It all starts with our selection software that allows a MarloAIR unit to be configured and quoted in a matter of minutes. Once a design is approved, the order is transmitted electronically to the AHU manufacturing cell in our factory.
Our dedicated AHU cell uses lean manufacturing principles to streamline the production process and maximize efficiency. Plus, an AHU’s custom coils can be built simultaneously with the unit itself, further reducing lead times. Depending on the exact size and configuration, most MarloAIR AHUs can be produced in just 10-12 weeks from order placement.
