Hot Products, Hot Topics and Hot Sales!

Another annual AHR Expo is in the books. It was great to see so many HVAC/R industry professionals in Atlanta this year. For anyone who didn’t make it to the show, here are the highlights from the Marlo booth and crew.

Hot Products

We had a wide range of our various commercial and industrial HVAC products on display at the show, from our standard heating and cooling coils to many of our specialty products. And while there was interest in all of these items from show attendees, there were two that everyone visiting our booth seemed to want to talk about:

Stratomizer Integral Face and Bypass Coils – The Marlo Stratomizer IFB, or Dampered Face and Bypass Coil, was a popular item at the show. We had both a vertical and a horizontal Stratomizer on display, which helped draw even more attention to the product’s versatility. Those who weren’t familiar with the Stratomizer were quickly convinced that it offers the most reliable method of freeze protection in colder climates by preheating fresh outside air and maintaining full steam pressure or constant hot water flow to the coil at all times.

MarloAIR Air Handling Unit (AHU) – Show attendees were also excited to learn about our MarloAIR air handling unit. The modular, pre-engineered design allows it to be customized to meet a wide range of needs – with much lower costs and shorter lead times than traditional custom AHUs. We had a small cut-out portion of our AHU wall system on display, which allowed us to show attendees our value-added features like 2” foamed panels, integral thermal breaks, and full-perimeter, double-sealed gaskets. Other MarloAIR advantages people were interested in were the option to include a Stratomizer in the AHU, our direct-drive, energy efficient fan and motor assemblies, and our industry-leading 3-year warranty on the entire unit, including all key components.

Hot Topics

The AHR Expo is always a great time for everyone involved in the coil business – manufacturers, engineers, salespeople and more – to get together and discuss the latest news in the industry. The talk of the show this year was about how some of the larger coil manufacturers are increasing their focus on serving their OEM customers, rather than the replacement coil market, meaning there could be less options in the future for anyone who needs to replace a coil (especially if it’s needed quickly).

Considering that this seems to be the new industry trend, we want to make it clear that Marlo has no intention of changing our focus away from building custom replacement coils. We realize why OEM business it attractive to others. Making the same product over and over in an “assembly line” type of environment can be extremely efficient. But at Marlo, we thrive on the challenge of building a custom coil every time – designed to serve a specific application with unique requirements. It’s what we’ve always done, and it’s what we do best. So we’re committed to serving the replacement coil market for the long haul.

Hot Sales

Many of our Marlo Independent Manufacturer’s Representatives (IMRs) were on hand at the expo and were able to attend an event we held in their honor on Monday night. We all enjoyed a fun night of conversation, food and drinks – plus the presentation of our 2022 IMR Achievement Awards for the firms that met key sales targets. Some of our “hot-selling” IMRs in 2022 included:

Platinum Award Winner: Affiliated Steam (Northern Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa)

Gold Award Winners: HVAC Solutions (Eastern Missouri, Southern Illinois) and RL Kunz (North Carolina, South Carolina)

We also had several IMRs who reached Silver and Bronze status. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our IMR performance in 2022. And they’re already off to a great start in 2023!
