DRS Marlo Coil Provides Clean Room Units
The
rapidly changing Semiconductor Manufacturing Market can require mid-stream
facility design changes to remain on the leading edge of technology. DRS Marlo
Coil was recently able to adapt and successfully bring this project online.
Technology in the semiconductor manufacturing market is changing at such a
rapid pace that facilities are often outdated before construction is completed.
Facility owners require their equipment suppliers to not only provide cutting
edge clean room equipment but to be able to adapt to changes anytime in the
project life. In order to meet the increasing demand for silicon wafers, DRS
Marlo Coil supplied Class 1 through Class 10,000 clean room units to this expanding
facility.
DRS Marlo Coil was awarded this project with an approximate Custom HVAC Equipment
value of $2.4 million. The project was awarded in early 1996 and all equipment
was delivered on site within a few months. The unit design and size varied
widely. The total number of Custom Units was nine (9) Make Up Air Units and
forty-seven (47) Recirculation Air Units serving Class I through Class 10,000
clean rooms.
The performance of a clean room relies heavily on the HVAC system configuration.
Driving its design is the ability to control microbial contaminants and particulates,
sound and vibration levels within the work space, as well as temperature and
humidity. DRS Marlo Coil's long standing reputation as a custom HVAC supplier
is evident in the design of our Tongue and Groove unit construction with integral
thermal break panels. All internal materials are made of epoxy coated material,
stainless steel, or aluminum to prevent outgassing and corrosion. DRS Marlo
Coil's Tongue and Groove panels allow an exterior which can be easily cleaned,
and all panels are sealed with non-outgassing materials.
DRS Marlo Coil units are Custom Engineered, Custom Built, Tested, and Built
Clean. Every unit is engineered by seasoned professionals with experience in
clean room air delivery systems. Their expertise and experience, combined with
computer selected components, provides unparalleled quality and performance.
Creative design is the basis within every DRS Marlo Coil unit. Every unit design
considers each project specifications, mechanical space restraints, noise criteria,
air volume and pressure requirements. DRS Marlo Coil's test lab allows each
unit to have individual air flow, sound, panel deflection, leakage and vibration
testing. Each clean room unit goes through three levels of cleaning:
1) Pre-Assembly Cleaning
2) Final Assembly - Component and Coil Cleaning, and
3) Final Cleaning.
During assembly and after final assembly, each unit must pass an inspection
by Quality Assurance before packaging can begin. |
